Otter Three
Our Otter Three class commences the journey for your child of learning swimming strokes. In this level, children continue to refine their kicking action to develop correct technique. Basic freestyle arms are taught, as well as backstroke. Water safety elements become more advanced with children learning to tread water independently, floating, sculling and rotation through the water.
Otter Three are:
- Confident in the water
- Learning stokes
- Skill based progression
- Group class with a maximum of 4 students
What do our Otter Three students learn?
- Kicking with board on front and back
- Kicking on back with arms by side
- Rockets - extended distance
- Basic freestyle arms
- Backstroke arms
- Treading water
- Sculling
- Unassisted float
When I graduate from Otter Three:
- I am a reasonably confident swimmer
- I have a strong kick on my front and back
- I can perform a rocket for 5m
- I can kick on my back with my arms by my side for 5m
- I can swim basic freestyle
- I can swim basic backstroke with a board
- I can tread water independently
- I can rotate my body from front to back independently
- I can float independently
