Otter Four
The Otter Four class sees the introduction of side breathing while swimming freestyle, and swimming backstroke with no board. Water safety elements include problem solving and implementing survival techniques over distance, treading water and sculling.
Otter Four are:
- Confident in the water
- Learning the freestyle and backstroke strokes
- Skill based progression
- Group class with a maximum of 4 students
What do our Otter Four students learn?
- Further development of kicking technique and working towards greater endurance
- Freestyle with bilateral breathing
- Backstroke with no board
- Sculling
- Treading water
When I graduate from Otter Four:
- I have a strong kick on my front and back which I can maintain for 10m
- I can perform a rocket with correct kick and head position for 10m
- I can swim 10m of backstroke independently
- I can swim 10m of correct bilateral freestyle with a board
- I can perform a survival sequence of sculling, treading water, and floating
