Otter Six
The Otter Six class focuses on consolidating the freestyle and backstroke strokes and developing endurance. Breaststroke kick is introduced in this level. Water safety concepts are extended in this class with children learning survival backstroke, as well as continuing to extend the time they are able to scull, tread water, and float.
Otter Six are:
- Have solid freestyle and backstroke technique
- Skill based progression
- Group class with a maximum of 4 students
What do our Otter Six students learn?
- Endurance is developed – progressing to swimming full and multiple laps
- Bilateral freestyle endurance with correct stroke
- Backstroke endurance
- Survival backstroke
- Breaststroke kick
When I graduate from Otter Six:
- I am a very confident swimmer
- I can swim continuous freestyle with correct technique for 30m
- I can swim continuous backstroke with correct technique for 60m
- I can correctly perform breaststroke kick for 15m
- I can swim survival backstroke for 15m
- I can rotate my body from front to back whilst moving through the water for 30m
